Sulaiman Khateeb – The Ghalib of Deccani poetry
When I think of Deccani poetry I think of Sulaiman Khateeb.
For Deccani language the collection of his poems ‘Kewde ka ban’ is like what ‘Deewan e Ghalib’ is for standard Urdu.
Sulaiman Khateeb lost his parents at a very young age and struggled a lot in his early life.
His poetry is a bitter reflection of what he might ve gone through in his struggling days.
His poem ‘Roti’ is a masterpiece explaining the bitter truths of the society where everyone strives for just one thing – the bread.
Here goes some lines about the significance of ‘roti’ in our society……….
