WHY MODI CAN NEVER BE THE PM ?
With much fanfare BJP today declared Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate ignoring stiff opposition from none other than a veteran like LK Advani. But I feel the long nurtured dream of a self confessed 'Hindu Nationalist' to be the Prime Minister of a diverse country like India will never be fulfilled.
I strongly believe that the era of single party rule has become a thing of past.Coalition politics is here to stay in India.
BJP is effectively left with only two alliance partners in the form of a 'reluctant' Shiv Sena and Akali Dal. Among them the latter will have to deal with the anti incumbency factor in Punjab.
It ll not be an easy task for BJP to find and convince new partners to support a Modi led Government in Delhi in light of his track record especially 2002 anti Muslim riots allegedly engineered and supported by his Government. Such probable allies like Mulayam, Mayawati or Mamata will have their own compulsion when it comes to support 'Namo'. Keeping a good rapport with the minorities particularly Muslims will be more important for them than sharing power in Delhi risking their holds in their respective states.
So 'Mitr' Modi should celebrate this occasion of the announcement of his candidature as much as he can as there won't be any such moment for him post 2014 LS polls.
Keep in mind folks the red fort will never turn saffron.
